Microsoft finally begins to roll-out Windows 10 Mobile

Windows 10 Mobile update

After months of waiting and failure of leaks, the day has come where Microsoft has finally begin to rollout Windows 10 Mobile for existing Lumia users. Microsoft today in a blog post confirms the update and also mentioned the list of handsets that are eligible for this update as of today. Phones and devices that can upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile are:

Lumia 1520, 930, 640, 640XL, 730, 735, 830, 532, 535, 540, 635 1GB, 636 1GB, 638 1GB, 430, 435, BLU Win HD w510u, BLU Win HD LTE x150q, MCJ Madosma Q501.

However, you wont be getting the update through the normal update from settings. Rather, you need to download the Windows Advisor app from Windows Store to check for upgrade availability and prepare your phone to install the upgrade.

Microsoft also clears that just because you are running Windows 10 Mobile through Windows Insider program, you may not be able to upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile if your handset is not in the above list.

"Our goal is to only offer the Windows 10 upgrade to devices that we are confident can continue to deliver a good customer experience"- Microsoft said.

Microsoft also lists the handsets that will be able to participate in the Windows Insider program. The list includes, Lumia 430, 435, 532, 535, 540, 550, 635, 636, 638, 640, 640 XL, 650, 730, 735, 830, 930, 950, 950 XL, 1520, Xiaomi Mi4, MCJ Q501, Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL, BLU Win HD W510U and X150Q.

So, if you are a proud owner of Lumia 625, 925 and some other not in the list, forget about Windows 10. Keep using through the Windows Insider (but you will not get any more builds), or dump it and buy another. I strongly feel Lumia 925 must have been in the list, though it looks like contrary to what Microsoft thinks and feel.

Which Lumia you are using? Going for an upgrade?
