Microsoft may rollout Windows 10 Mobile on January 12

If the rumors has to believed, the much waited Windows 10 Mobile will be rolled out for Windows Phone 8.1 handset from January 12. Earlier, Microsoft has promised that the roll out will begin in December 2015, but has been delayed due to unknowing reasons. For now, officially Windows 10 Mobile is only available for Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL and Microsoft Lumia 550.

There is still no official communication about the roll out, though tweets from @LumiaHelp promises the roll out is on its way and will be delivered soon. There is no date but it is rumored to January 12.

This is one such area where Microsoft has surely lost its advantage by keeping their fans waiting for so long and delaying the release. Windows fans like me has been waiting for long for the roll out and truth be told, the Windows Insider program do not guarantee a stable version that I can take for granted. I have once tried Windows 10 Mobile through this Insider Program but switched back to Windows Phone 8.1 from Windows 10 Technical Preview due to bugs and lags.

The handsets that would be receiving Windows 10 Mobile are still not confirmed, but the list may include Lumia 430, Lumia 435, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 735, Lumia 830 and Lumia 930 in the first phase of roll out. Other handsets with minimum 8GB of internal storage will be likely to receive Windows 10 Mobile in subsequent roll outs.
