How to Hard Reset your Windows Phone

Are you one of those geeks who stuffs there smartphone with apps and games and often end up with low storage on their device? Or have you faced any condition where your Windows Phone decides not to boot up for any particular reason? If yes, then perhaps hard reset is one of the option that will make space on your device, or help you in situations where you are not able to turn on your Windows Phone. 

Hard Resetting your phone will return your Windows Phone to the new state when you bought your phone to the factory setting and all your apps and games will be lost along with the images you clicked and videos. 

Before you hard reset your Windows Phone

Before you decide to hard reset your Windows Phone, do not forget to back up your phone. Your Windows Phone may contain some images/videos/apps which you don't want to lose. 

It is a good practice to regularly back up your stuffs, since you may face a situation where your phone do not respond and you are left with the only option of hard reset. In that case, if you do not have back-up, you will surely regret it.

Hard reset your Windows Phone when it is responding

hard reset windows phoneIf your phone is in responding state, you can hard reset it through the App list. Navigate to App List > Settings

Tap About > Reset your phone

Respond to the warnings and give your phone some time to return back to factory settings.

You may not always have the situation where your Windows Phone is in responding condition (This is where regular back-up helps!!). If your phone is unresponsive and you are not able to access the menu/App list, you can try the physical button combinations to hard reset your Windows Phone.

As soon as your phone vibrates, immediately press Volume down button and you will see an exclamation (!) mark on the screen. 

Now, press these four buttons in the same order, Volume Up > Volume Down > Power > Volume Down. 

It will take some time for the reset to finish and once done, you will find your Windows Phone reverted back to the factory settings.
